BAT!

Okay, so last night I had one of the scariest experiences I've had so far. So far mind you, because there will probably be others later.
I had already fallen asleep, and I was sleeping on the couch downstairs because we had company at the house. Around midnight I woke up to this tap, tap, tap! on the window. And it was constant. It sounded like someone was either trying to quietly open the door, something was messing with the door, or a moth was caught. I flip on the light downstairs and it looks like nothing is inside. So I head over to the door, fully prepared to scare off a grizzly or call the cops on a pervert. In front of the door was a curtain. I pulled the curtain back and sitting at my feet was a small, brown bat.
The bat was about nine inches from wingtip to wingtip I'd guess, and six inches long, if I were to wager a guess.
So I draw in a breath, and the bat flies straight at my face! I kid you not, I started screaming my ass off. I dived for the door heading upstairs. People were still awake and talking upstairs and so I got them to come down and help me out. My stepmom comes down with a towel, and her two friends were following. And all the while, I'm getting this "really?" vibe from her. So we're all downstairs and the bat flies straight at my stepmom and I (we were next to each other), who follows my example, and we both scream again. So it turns out that me and my stepmom cower in fetal position in the corner while our company opens up the doors and shoos the bat out.
Hilarious, yes. After 24 hours anyway.
But yes. I was woken up by a bat at midnight and terrified near to death. It took me about half an hour to calm down and fall back asleep.
:)
Life is never dull.
